Safeguarding at The Wendy House

At The Wendy House, safeguarding children is everyone's responsibility. This page is designed to support our staff in understanding their roles and responsibilities in protecting the children in our care. Our aim is to create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Our commitment

The Wendy House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We recognise that all staff members have a full and active part to play in protecting our children from harm, and that the child’s welfare is always our paramount concern. Our safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to ensure we meet this commitment.

What if i'm wrong?

One of the biggest worries staff members have is: "What if I'm wrong?"

“It’s completely normal to worry about getting it wrong, but you’re not expected to decide whether something is or isn’t a safeguarding issue. Your role is simply to share your concern. We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead and a Deputy who will assess the information and decide if it needs to be taken further.

Every concern you raise will be reviewed carefully, and if escalation is needed, it will be handled through the correct procedures. You’re never judged for raising a worry—reporting a concern is always the right thing to do.”
